"Flame Red" hand-dyed wool yarn

$17.00

This yarn is 100% Corriedale yarn from my flock, and was processed and spun at Von Strohm Woolen Mill near Columbus OH. I hand-dyed it with Greener Shades brand dye, color "Flame Red", using citric acid to set the dye.

This is a very sturdy yarn - I have made hats and a bolero from it, and they are holding up very well with daily use. There are some thicker or thinner sections due to the spinning process.

As this wool has been hand-dyed, there will be variations to the color (as you can see in the pictures). I have taken steps to ensure that the dye is solidly attached to the fibers. However, there still may be slight bleeding of the color for a washing or two. This yarn was also set using vinegar. I machine-washed (cool water) a Flame Red dyed hat with some white towels and there was no bleeding.

Wash items separately, or with like colors in cool water, lay flat to dry.

This skein is worsted weight (9wpi by my measurement), and 80 yards (65 grams). I triple-checked the yardage because this skein weighs about 40g less than the other 80 yard skeins of this color, and it is 80 yards.

Pricing is PER SKEIN
